"You just don't understand," she said, as Maggie and I came out to the car.
"What don't I understand?" I wanted to know.
"Your heritage"
(Dee and Mama, Everyday Use, pg. 181)
Vomit. That is what Dee's new name should have been. She reminds me so much of the Kardashians. Once, in the car, I was listening to the radio and someone listed off all the companies and products the Kardashian family endorsed. It was well over forty. Vom vom! People just do things because it's what other people want to hear. Dee, like the Kardashians, went back to her commercial roots and wanted to be all authentic and such. It's so ironic that Dee, who once rejected her precious quilts, is now trying to reconnect! If she wanted to truly understand her heritage and all that jazz, why didn't she help out around the house or work on the farm? It's what REAL people do, which just shows how shallow she is. Like I said, vomit!
