"I kissed thee ere I killed thee. No way but this,
Killing myself, to die upon a kiss."
(Othello, V. ii. 356, 357)
I just had that quote in there because I had one from everyone else (minus Roderigo) that dies. Anywho, the book asks if the minor charachters shed light on the actions or motives of the major characters. Who does this better than Emilia? Ain't no body. I didn't care two straws about Emilia at the start, minus the fact that I kind of felt bad about her being married to such a jerk like Iago. However, she totally steals the show at the end. I can't imagine standing up to one's husband and telling him in front of legal officials everything bad he's ever done. She's seriously my new favorite Shakespeare character. Juliet, step aside! Actually, I never liked Juliet all that much on account of because she met a guy, married him, and killed herself because of him in less than a week. Easy does it... Back to Emilia, though: she reveals everything that you needed to know in such a courageous way. I just LOVE Emilia!
